HINO RESEARCH / Specification guide

Hino body fit, chassis dimensions and payload planning

A cab-and-chassis reference is the start of a body installation plan. Use the correct year and configuration, then establish the finished vehicle’s dimensions and axle loads.

Separate wheelbase, cab-to-axle and body length

Wheelbase locates the axles. Cab-to-axle describes space behind the cab relative to the rear axle reference. Body length is a separate installation choice involving overhang, load position and clearances. A crew cab changes available space even where its wheelbase matches a standard cab. Use the drawing’s own definitions, especially on tandem chassis.

A chassis weight is not finished tare

Manufacturer tables describe specific reference conditions. A body, liftgate, refrigeration unit, tanks, tools, occupants and other equipment change actual weight. Obtain scale weights by axle with the truck equipped for work, then assess the load against the vehicle, axle, tire and applicable operating limits. Do not publish a universal payload calculated from a brochure alone.

Review mounting and service access

Ask the body builder to confirm mounting points, frame requirements, centre of gravity, cab movement and access to service components. The Hino manual makes body and equipment installation a separate engineering responsibility. Retain the installation drawings and final-stage documentation with the truck, including later modifications.

Use the tools with verified inputs

The site’s spec planner and build review can organize measurements and documents. They do not replace an installation design or certify axle loading. Enter the actual configuration and record unresolved items clearly; never fill a missing dimension with a value taken from the nearest-looking model.
